Madrid by Day

Today’s tour is in the morning. The best and the prettiest of Madrid (as in the majority of cities) is downtown, so we’ll start in the nerve center: the heart of the city beats in the Gran Via.

Gran Via

This is the place that is most captured in film and TV commercials.

From Gran Via, you can go towards Fuencarral, the “fashion Madrid” street, where it’s difficult to not want to buy everything you see in its stores. It’s impossible to miss The Fuencarral Market, a place which, among so much publicity, still feels romantic… Do you think it’s because I was with Ale?

We were going the opposite direction of Gran Via, though, toward the Madrid of Austrias which we will tell you about in the next post. So from Gran Via we walked to Puerta del Sol by Montera Street, a street known for:

a) A business that is flourishing with prostitution, something like the United Nations of sex.
b) Having one of the best Argentinean grills on one of its nearest streets, Tetuán Street, 34. That’s where you can find Parrilla El Gaucho, a cha-Cha-CHA place to fill up with new energy at any time of the day. The best: without a doubt, the bar.

We’ve selected a good MAP of MADRID here.

  • NOTE 1: In the next post, Madrid of Austrias….
  • NOTE 2: You’ll find all the details of these places and much more in our in the Guide of Madrid that we’re preparing. All of it in our new website (it’s coming, it’s coming…)
  • NOTE 3: Our invitation is still open. Would you like to tell us about any places you love in Spain? Send it to us via e-mail and we’ll publish it! If you have a business that you’d like to have on our guides, contact us. Tell your friends!
